-the OMON (militarized federal police) has a headquarters directly opposite the concert hall
-the concert hall had state-of-the-art security systems including fire extinguishing systems
Despite everything, 4 men equipped with assault rifles, ammunition and incendiary devices not only made it into the country (by plane), but also into the city and the concert hall.
Despite everything, these 4 men had 90 minutes to murder over 130 people (and counting) and set the building on fire.
Despite everything, the extinguishing systems did nothing and the fire happily ran its course.
Despite everything, the perpetrators were able to escape and were allegedly only caught alive 400km outside Moscow after a shootout.
Despite everything, Putin only spoke out publicly 20 hours after the attack (and blamed Ukraine).
Although IS repeatedly claimed responsibility for the attack and even provided footage (the perpetrators were wearing GoPros) as proof, Putin stuck to the narrative that Ukraine had planned the terrorist attack. As it turned out, the perpetrators were recruited via an Islamist priest's Telegram channel by an unknown person who offered them half a million roubles for the deed.
Fun fact 1: Western intelligence services warned the FSB several weeks before the attack that they had information pointing to planned terrorist attacks on large gatherings in Moscow (including concerts).
Fun fact 2: In 2022, an exercise was carried out in the same concert hall in which Ukrainian soldiers were simulated taking hostages.
Fun fact 3: Allegedly (according to the FSB) the perpetrators wanted to flee to Ukraine in their white Sedan after the crime. The only problem is that the route there is paved with countless police and military checkpoints and also leads through an active war zone
